COLLECTOR BILL PORTER SCOOPS IT UP!

Long-time Bevil collector Bill Porter accurately identified the element making this cover unique; it's a PNC.  With just a few plate number coil stamps on a roll of 100, what are the chances of me grabbing one as I began working on my color studies!

Good eye Bill.

GIVING AWAY A PALMER!

The first step in painting an issue is to play around searching for a good color scheme. This begins with grabbing a few unpainteds from a stack of maybe 150 covers, place them on the easel, and painting a few. Here's the master I'm going with. Interestingly, something about this cover makes it unique from the rest in the stack, and I didn't notice it until just a few days ago. Be the first to tell me what makes it unique, and it's yours.

A GIANT OF AN ISSUE

I've completed the ink rendering for the Wilt Chamberlain 2-cover set. This one rendering will be split midway, just below the floor shadow of Wilt dribbling. Shortly I'll transfer the drawing to the two issues, then post them.

A PRETTY SIGHT

My two variations of yellow have arrived. Unpacked and proudly displayed on the studio shelf, I'm ready to pick up the airbrush and complete the So Long Arnold Palmer topical event issue. With new and additional lights in the studio painting booth, I'm expecting my painting experience to be more enjoyable and pleasant than before. Let's enjoy our weekend.

Bill Porter says,

Hi Kendal. Is it the plate number on the flag stamp that makes this Arnold Palmer cover unique?

Kendal says,

That's it Bill! I had no idea I had accidentally grabbed a PNC to play around with for a color scheme. while this cover will be nmbered as part of the main lot, I will come back to it and change the colors a bit, distinguishing it from the rest. Congrats Bill.

Steve says,

I can't figure it out. What would be unique about it? Can you give us a hint? I want that cover!

Kendal says,

And I want you to have that cover Steve. I can't really think of a hint that wouldn't give it away. Look it over.

Pamela says,

Is the title, "So long to the King" different than the rest of the issue?

Kendal says,

That's not a bad observation, as sometimes I will produce a prototype, change my mind on the title or verbage before I produce the rest. In this case though, incorrect.

Katherine says,

Dang, Kendal, where have you been?

Kendal says,

It may seem I've been totally absent, though that isn't entirely the case. Kind of the case.

I have been dropping in the studio, inking issues when I can. Actually, I have five issues inked ready to paint. Tomorrow evening I'll post them

IN THE BULL PEN.
