If not for the Mail Pouch Barns, I doubt I would have chose Mail Pouch Tobacco as my topic
for the Greetings From West Virginia issue. Over 20,000 barns could be spotted with the advertisement during the height of the campaign. While the Highway Beautification Act in 1965 restricted the placement of advertising near highways, Mail Pouch Barns were exempted, being deemed historical landmarks.
